We had gallery passes for both the House and Senate. The House was in session and we heard amendments proposed by several Representatives in front of only a handful of other Representatives.
When they voted almost all the 435 Representatives came into the chamber for voting. They voted with electric key cards and their vote was electronically recorded on a board on the front wall.
We saw a lot of the people you see on the news. On the floor of the House was Rep Renacci, Rep Pelosi, and Speaker Bohner to mention a few. Some of us saw Michelle Bachman in the hall.
At the end of the voting, the Representatives started yelling. It turned out that they were razzing another member. The whole Capitol visit was pretty amazing. it certainly made what we hear about on the abstract come alive.
